EMSD Everywhere: Handheld PCs (Windows CE, Palm PC), PalmPilot. and Handspring

Microsoft Windows CE is an operating system which enables consumer devices to communicate with each other, synchronize and exchange information with Windows-based computers, and connect to the Internet.

The Windows CE operating system comes pre-installed on PC Companions or embedded systems using Windows CE. It is pre-installed in ROM on Handheld PCs.

PalmPilot is a handheld personal organizer. In contrast to Handheld PCs it has no keyboard; all input is performed using the touch-sensitive screen. The PalmPilot can be connected to a PC and can exchange and update information in both directions - from the PalmPilot device to the PC, and vice versa.

Enhanced Two-Way Paging (ETWP), a software product from Neda Communications, Inc, is a complete implementation of the full EMSD standard. The ETWP software can be used with a variety of subnetworks (CDPD, Narrowband PCS, etc.) to do two-way paging using a variety of handheld PCs, or PalmPilot. On a Windows CE platform, the ETWP software is integrated directly into the standard Microsoft Windows CE "INBOX" email application.

You may obtain a free copy of the Neda-ETWP software for your personal use directly from Neda Communications, Inc.

The following handheld PCs have been tested and are known to work with the Neda-ETWP software:
