EMSD over CDPD


CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) is a wireless data network that uses digital transmission on analog cellular (AMPS) channels to provide mobile packet-switched data services.

CDPD is native IP; therefore the EMSD protocol can be used to provide two-way paging services over CDPD. This is easily accomplished, and requires no special arrangements.

The following CDPD modems have been used and function correctly with EMSD products:

Enhanced Two-Way Paging (ETWP), a product of Neda Communications, Inc, is a complete implementation of the full EMSD standard. Neda-ETWP has been tested and verified over CDPD.
