EMSD over CDPD

CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) is a wireless data network that uses digital transmission on analog cellular (AMPS) channels to provide mobile packet-switched data services.

CDPD is native IP; therefore the EMSD protocol can be used to provide two-way paging services over CDPD. This is easily accomplished, and requires no special arrangements.

The following CDPD modems have been used and function correctly with EMSD products:

• Motorola 100C
• Mitsubishi MobileAccess 100
• Sierra Wireless Pocket Plus 210
• IBM Wireless

Other CDPD modems can also be used with EMSD products.

Enhanced Two-Way Paging (ETWP), a product of Neda Communications, Inc, is a complete implementation of the full EMSD standard. Neda-ETWP has been tested and verified over CDPD.

The Neda-ETWP software supports the following platforms:

• Windows CE 1.0 (both MIPS and SH3 CPUs)

• Windows CE 2.0 (both MIPS and SH3 CPUs)

• Windows 95, 98

• Windows NT

Any Windows CE HPC should work correctly with the Neda-ETWP software. The Neda-ETWP software has been tested and verified on the following HPCs:

• Sharp Mobilon HC-4000, HC-4100, HC-4500 (WCE 2.0)
• Philips Velo 1 (WCE 1.0 and WCE 2.0)
• HP 320 LX (WCE 1.0 and WCE 2.0)
• Casio Cassiopeia (WCE 1.0)
• Compaq Companion (WCE 1.0)
